The facility on Kenmore Avenue in Buffalo is finally ready to have its grand opening... virtually. The space was a week away from opening when COVID-19 hit.
Now the space is safely ready for families living with people with down syndrome. From ages birth through adulthood, Mondschein says he hopes this space will feel like family's second homes.
Gigi's playhouse is nationwide, and the Buffalo location will be the 49th in the U.S. and Mexico. This large has many rooms for different activities and programs.
- The main room with open space and tables for play and classes
- A full kitchen for individuals to learn life skills and how to make nutritious meals
- A hang out lounge for teens
- A classroom for college-aged individuals
- A fitness center
- Tutoring rooms for learning
All activities are free thanks to community donations. Mondschein is kicking off the opening with a virtual celebration Saturday on their Facebook page. Programs begin Monday morning.
